AFC West mock draft: Take III

With the first wave of free agency in the books, here is my third AFC West mock draft for the teams' first-round picks. We will roll out another mock or two prior to the April 26-28 draft:

11. Kansas City Chiefs, DT, Dontari Poe, Memphis: I think Poe is rising on many boards and he could be a tone setter for the Chiefs. They could go several ways, but Poe may be tough to pass up.

Previous pick: MLB, Luke Kuechly, Boston College.

18. San Diego Chargers, LB, Whitney Mercilus, Illinios: The Chargers badly need a pass-rusher. It is their greatest need and they need to find someone in the draft. I think Mercilus will be available and the Chargers will grab him.

Previous pick: OG, David DeCastro, Stanford:

25. Denver Broncos, DT Fletcher Cox, Mississippi State: This is Denver’s greatest need and Cox is a high-quality player. Denver may have to hope he is available at No. 25 and if he is, I think he’ll be the choice.

Previous pick: Cox.

The Oakland Raiders do not have a first-round pick (No. 17) because it traded it to the Cincinnati Bengals in a package deal for quarterback Carson Palmer.
