Q&A: Stanford RB Remound Wright

Quick, who led Stanford in rushing touchdown in 2015? If your answer was Heisman runner-up, Christian McCaffrey, you're wrong. The correct answer: senior Remound Wright. Wright carved out a role for himself at the Cardinal's short-yardage back and finished the year with 13 rushing touchdowns and 24 over his final two seasons. ESPN.com caught up with Wright for a quick conversation after the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Southern California.

What was this week like for you?

Remound Wright: It was wonderful to get coached by running backs who have played the game at the highest level. Guys that have been All-Pro and guys you’ve looked up to your whole life. It’s an honor to be coached by them and all the coaches.

Who specifically made an impression?

RW: Getting coached by Ray Rice was exciting for me because I’ve tried to model my game after his since I was a young kid in high school because we’re of similar size, similar weight. I tried to play like him, and it’s been real cool to get coached by him.

Can you reflect a little bit on your final year at Stanford?

RW: It was a fun year. At Stanford, third Rose Bowl in my time there. That's what we expect in these times at Stanford. It was a really fun year, don’t know what else to say.

[Stanford teammate] Christian McCaffrey’s brother, Max, was on the other team this week. Did you get to know him at all or had you guys already met?

RW: I’ve met him once before. I said, ‘Hey,’ to him once, but I didn’t see him much during the week.

What’s the next step for you?

RW: Next step is to get to training. Trying to perform at the best of my ability on pro day. I’m working out at AWP Sports in Fort Wayne, Indiana, which is back home for me. I’ve worked out with them since I was in eighth grade. So I figured go back and work with the people who know me best.

Who is your agent?

RW: I don’t have an agent yet.

Do you plan on getting one?

RW: I know it’s pretty unnecessary, especially with the rookie pay scale, but I do plan on getting one. My dad is handling all of that for me right now, so any agent that contacts me, I send them to my dad and he takes care of it.

What’s your goal through this whole process?

RW: Make a team, play, help a team win. That’s my goal.
