Alabama, McElroy wake up

Just when you thought that Alabama might have one of those sleepwalk type of games, quarterback Greg McElroy comes alive on offense, and the defense does … well, what Alabama’s defense does.

The Crimson Tide came off the goal line to go 90-plus yards and stretch its lead to 14-6, and then got a long fumble return for a touchdown by Courtney Upshaw in the final seconds of the half to take a 21-6 lead.

McElroy found tight end Colin Peek a couple of times on that long drive, including the touchdown, and I think Peek will be a big key for Alabama’s offense the rest of the season. He’s one of those guys who knows how to get open and catches the ball. He’s a tough matchup for any defense.
