GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- If the Minnesota Vikings are able to turn around their season, they could point to their October 23 game against the Green Bay Packers as a reason.

On Monday night, the Vikings look for their third straight win when they face the NFC North-rival Packers at Lambeau Field.

The Vikings entered the first meeting against the Packers with a 1-4 record and were reeling from an off-the-field October 6 incident that disgraced the organization.

Members of the Vikings allegedly chartered two cruise boats during their bye week and turned it into a wild sex party. At least 17 members of the Vikings were among 90 passengers on the two boats in Lake Minnetonka, and crew members reportedly described players allegedly having sex, drinking heavily and propositioning female crew members to perform sex acts.

Pending an investigation by local authorities, no charges have been filed.

Against the Packers, the Vikings fell into 17-0 hole at halftime as Brett Favre completed 16-of-19 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns.

But behind Daunte Culpepper, who completed 17-of-23 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns, the Vikings rallied for a dramatic 23-20 victory.

The Packers had tied the game at 20-20 when Ryan Longwell kicked a 39-yard field goal with 24 seconds left in the fourth quarter after Favre directed an 11-play, 56-yard drive.

It appeared the game was headed to overtime, but Culpepper didn't allow his team to even chance losing a coin flip. After Koren Robinson returned the ensuing kickoff 25 yards to the Minnesota 36, Culpepper threw a 14-yard pass over the middle to running back Mewelde Moore and called his team's final timeout with eight seconds remaining.

Culpepper then fired a 12-yard pass to Marcus Robinson, who ran out of bounds at the Green Bay 38 with two seconds left.

That set the stage for Paul Edinger, who kicked a 56-yard field goal as time expired.

Since the victory, the Vikings are 3-1. They are tied for second place with Detroit, two games behind surprising Chicago. Culpepper also was at the controls in the wild card round here last January 9, when he threw for four touchdowns to lead the Vikings to a 31-17 victory.

However, Culpepper is out for the remainder of the season with torn knee ligaments. Veteran Brad Johnson has taken over for Culpepper and won both of his starts.

Johnson struggled nearly the entire way last week against the New York Giants before engineering a late drive in a 24-21 victory. Edinger gave the Vikings another thrilling victory with a 48-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining.

After winning the North title the last three seasons, the Packers have endured an injury-riddled campaign and are in last place. Wide receiver Javon Walker and running backs Ahman Green and Najeh Davenport are among those who have suffered season-ending injuries.

The Packers showed they still have some fight left by posting a surprising 33-25 victory at Atlanta last week.

Samkon Gado, who was on the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad earlier, rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns against the Falcons. The undrafted rookie from Liberty has rushed for 165 yards and four TDs in two starts.

Favre will be hoping for cold weather since he owns a 38-3 record at home when the game-time temperature is 34 degrees or below.

Matchup to watch: Packers wide receiver Donald Driver, who had 10 catches for 114 yards last week, against either Antoine Winfield or Brian Russell.

Series: Tied, 44-44-1, but the Packers have won the last six regular-season meetings here.
