Redskins-Buccaneers Preview

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Tampa Bay running back Michael Pittman sat out Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins because of a right ankle injury that has sidelined him for five of the past six games.

Pittman was injured on Oct. 7 at Indianapolis and missed the next four games. He returned last week against Atlanta, but aggravated the injury.

The Redskins played without free safety Sean Taylor for the second straight week. He sprained his right knee against Philadelphia two weeks ago and was replaced in the starting lineup by Reed Doughty.

Receiver James Thrash (ankle) also was inactive for Washington.

Scouting Report

Washington passing game will be tough matchup for Tampa Bay

The Redskins are perhaps the best .500 team in the league, while the Buccaneers could be labeled overachievers with all the injuries they have overcome. Washington has been within reach in four of its five losses and Tampa Bay is leading one of the worst divisions in the league, and this is actually a matchup between teams with similar talent levels. The Redskins are looking to stay in contention for a postseason berth and the Bucs are hoping to open up a large cushion in their divisional race. Look for a defensive battle that will be won late in the fourth quarter.
