Former Queensland winger Darius Boyd has been named the Maroons' State of Origin coach.
Boyd replaces Billy Slater as part of a two-year deal, after the former Melbourne Storm fullback stepped down last month.
Slater won three series from five as Queensland coach, his final act being the Maroons' loss in Game III this year.
Boyd graduates from his role as Queensland Under 19s coach, with the former Broncos, Dragons and Knights winger almost the last man standing after several other high-profile candidates withdrew from the race.
"It's a privileged position and I'm very grateful for the opportunity," Boyd said.
"I understand the responsibility that comes with the role as well. My job is to build on the legacy created by the many great Queensland players and coaches who have come before us."
