Wrapping up Monday in the AFC West:
San Diego tight end Antonio Gates is on a roll. He practiced for the third straight day Monday after resting a nagging foot injury. This is clearly a good sign. The Chargers want to ensure Gates is healthy for the season, so if he is working now, all systems appear to be go.
Buffalo cut defensive end/linebacker Aaron Maybin on Monday. He was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2009 draft. The undersized Maybin has been a complete bust. If any of the AFC West teams claim him, it would surely be just a look-see.
Oakland rookie receiver sensation Denarius Moore talks about his special training camp.
The Raiders signed a couple of journeyman safeties for depth reason. Safety Hiram Eugene had hip surgery after being injured in the preseason opener against Arizona. He could miss the entire season.
The Saints cut tackle Jonathan Stinchcomb. If Oakland is still looking for a veteran presence at the position, he could be a consideration. His older brother, Matt, is a former first-round pick of the Raiders.
