Chat wrap: A Raider draft plan?

Here are some highlights from our AFC West chat, which was held earlier Wednesday:

DENVER

Sam from Denver: If playoff seeding has been determined in week 17, is there any chance the Broncos sit Manning for the last game?

Bill Williamson: Yeah, it could be Osweiler time. Maybe Manning get a couple of series and then it could be time to take a look at the kid.

KANSAS CITY

Alex from Springfield, MO.: Would it be a bad idea for the Chiefs to acquire Alex Smith next season and then wait until 2014 or even 2015 to find a great promising QB in the draft? This draft class isn't that strong plus other teams are also discussing this possibility.

BW: But it could be a worthwhile scenario. Get another defensive stud, get a bridge QB and wait for a better QB class. Much better than swinging and missing on a rookie QB who is a reach and getting nothing out of it.

OAKLAND

Kyle Cook from the West Coast: Can you see the Raiders trading down in the draft.

BW: Well, I'd like to see them get a superstar defender. But they are without a second-round pick (that's a killer), so they may need to think about compiling picks because of needs.

SAN DIEGO

Dan from Milwaukee: BW, two Bolt questions:1. What do you know about Jimmy Raye and what are your thoughts on him being the next GM in San Diego? 2. SD looks like they will have a top 7 pick. If Manti is available, do they grab know him knowing OL is an issue? Team lacks inspiration and he could provide it.

BW: Raye is an up-and-comer. He knows the team. They could do worse. I think T'eo is gone before Chargers get to him. They need OL help first, anyway.
