Setting expectations for questionable Wells

The Arizona Cardinals' Beanie Wells was a surprise addition to the team's injury report Friday. The Cardinals listed the running back as questionable, citing a hamstring injury.

Wells was listed as questionable with hamstring injuries twice since entering the NFL in 2009, both last season -- against Minnesota and the New York Giants. He carried 47 times for 198 yards (4.2 per attempt) and four touchdowns in those games.

The Cardinals have listed Wells as questionable eight other times since 2009. He carried 97 times for 387 yards (4.0 per carry) and two scores in those games. Wells carried 10 or fewer times in five of those eight games, including a 2010 game with one carry against the Vikings. Knee, hip and groin injuries were cited for those eight games.

Wells' status against the Seahawks for Sunday could give the team reason to funnel additional carries toward promising second-year running back Ryan Williams. Williams, like Wells, is coming off knee surgery.
