PITTSBURGH - Scrappy right wing Steve Webb is making his way around the Atlantic Division.

Webb was claimed off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday, making his third stop in the division in seven months.

Drafted by Buffalo in 1996, Webb was signed as a free agent by the New York Islanders the following year. He appeared in 311 games over parts of seven seasons, recording five goals, 13 assists and 528 penalty minutes.

Allowed to test the free agent market this past summer, the 28-year-old Webb landed with the Flyers but did not make the 23-man roster.

To make room for Webb, the Penguins assigned left wing Reid Simpson to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Appearing with his ninth NHL team, Simpson collected 17 penalty minutes in two games with the Penguins. He has 18 goals, 18 assists and 838 penalty minutes in 301 career contests.
